"LOOKS AND FEELS GREAT, this is my first AEG and I can’t wait to use it. I got the 8.5 barrel which makes it better for checking corners. My only complaint is the orange muzzle that came with the gun when it arrived which is hard for me to remove in order for me to use the “blast shield” oppressor, BUT no biggie I’ll find a way. Definitely recommend

"Love the Strike Industries licensed "oppressor" blast shield outside of it not being compatible with the Bifrost

"I picked up the 8.5" model roughly 6 months and have allot of time behind the gun, I wanted to share my experiences and things I noticed using it. the first thing I noticed taking this out of the box is how small the pistol/motor grip is. its one of the "slim" "real" or what ever you want to call them grips. I refer to them as the grips that can only take gutted motors, because the armature is completely exposed. since im on the topic, the motor is fine, there is literally nothing to say about it as it leaves a very "neutral" impression, neither negative nor positive, but its like oatmeal with out any flavor. i disliked the small grip and got a put a pts epg grip on and a normal motor inside, feels so much better.
since we are in the neighborhood, I do have a genuine complaint about the gun, it has a basic straight trigger guard. its insulting as a end consumer to be charged a premium price only to receive the bare minimum. personally, i feel the straight trigger guard clashes with the gun, but youll feel it before anything else. purchased a bcm trigger guard and have never looked back. would strongly advise you to the same. sticking with the theme is the charging handle is just as basic, i feel it should come with an enhanced one to further "tacticalize" the look.
the big thing that stands out about this gun is the oppressor blast shield, and ultimately thats what drew me to this rifle. after receiving the rifle, I felt it stuck out to much, I elected to purchase a shorter outer barrel to hide more of the oppressor in the hand guard, as of right now the way I have it set up is I have essentially cut the shield in half leaving only the holes on the opressor exposed. the rest of it hides in the hard guard. the ultimate reason I did this is that I wanted to keep it a short gun, my gun now has a "bull dog" look. the sacrifice I had to make is i cannot mount anything on the forward most m lok slots. it does act as amplifier, even with my inner barrel extended into the oppressor itself, gives a pretty good pop. what I find very interesting about the oppressor blast shield, is that if you purchase it by itself, its different than when comes on the gun. the one that comes on the gun is 1 piece has milling on the inside. the aftermarket version you can purchase a stand alone unit is 2 piece and lacks the milling on the inside.
the integrated front sight is worthless, i dont even know why they put it on, its a significant pain and hindrance to get too, you essentially need to use a finger nail to get it to pop up, not ideal in a fire fight. rear sight is equally worthless.
the way I grip the gun my thumb rests right on top the picatinny section on the hand guard, not the best feeling gripping all the sharp rail, i put on a ladder rail cover and have not looked back.
hop up is rotary and works, accuracy and range is par for a rifle of this price point, always room for improvement in this department. I put in a maple leaf bucking and a zci 6.02 inner barrel to maximize the range and accuracy. while i was at it, i decided to upgrade the cylinder/head and piston head to lonex just to get as much as i can out compression to help with the accuracy and range. i wanted to tighten up my groupings, it still has a pretty good spread, but its tighter and I cant imagine it getting much better.
i kept the stock piston as it is a metal rack and will last the life of the gun. the gears really impressed me, they are definitely very high grade and will last a very long time, I dont forsee myself or anyone for that matter having any problems with the gear set any time soon. shimming was good and I doubt I could do a better job. I genuinely cant recall if this came with a delayer chip or not.
something that really surprised me was how heavy of a gun this is, keep in mind I own the 8.5" version, and its hefty. its noticeably heavier than normal, to be honest I am not sure where the weight is coming from, but it makes the gun feel "chunky". the reason i mention this is (of course) the weight is only going to increase on the longer models, just keep it in mind.
everything mates up nicely and there is no play between the upper and lower, it feels very high quality and I am very pleased with how the gun "feels" over all. im rating it 4 stars mostly because the motor, trigger guard, sights, and charging handle, given the price I feel all of these components should at minimum be "enhanced" in some way. I figure the vast majority of the expense comes from the metal body, and trades.
these pop up on the epic deals tab fairly often, I would advise to just wait for it to go on sale and then purchase it. even though I severely hate some aspects of this gun, it has really grown on me, i promise you will love yours too.
